Companion Role & Expectations

Built from real-life experience

MindMyElder was created from lived experience of shared homes and meaningful presence.

We believe companionship is not about tasks or performance, but about reliability, respect, and human connection.

This platform exists to support older adults at home while offering companions a clear, dignified, and flexible role.

What Companions Do

Companions offer non-medical, in-home presence and support to older adults, helping maintain comfort, routine, and human connection at home.

This may include:

Being present in the home for reassurance and companionship
Conversation, shared activities, and social interaction
Sharing a tea or coffee together
Help with groceries and errands
Light assistance with everyday routines (non-medical)
Taking care of light gardening
Medication reminders (not administration)
Regular home visits or extended stays, by mutual agreement
House presence during travel, recovery periods, or life transitions

All arrangements are discussed and agreed upon directly with the family.

What Companions Do Not Do

Companions do not provide:

Medical, nursing, or therapeutic services
Personal hygiene or physical care
Medication administration or medical supervision
Emergency response or on-call medical support

MindMyElder is a companionship platform, not a care service.
